Good Morning America launches sweepstakes — winner receives private advance 3D screening of John Carter with 100 friends
A few days ago we reported that Disney had announced that there would be six free advance screenings of John Carter on March 3 and 4 at Disneyworld in Orlando — and now comes news that ABC’s Good Morning America is promoting a sweepstakes in which the winner will get a private screening with 100 friends, in advance of the regular release. Here is the link to the GMA Promotion and Signup. Entries must be in by February 7.
As I mentioned previously — the best aspect of these advance screenings is that it shows Disney is not afraid to let audiences see the film in advance, knowing full well that they will be talking’ and tweeting’ after they see it. If Disney was not confident that the film delivers, I don’t think they would be doing this particular type of promotion. It’s a good sign at a time when marketing is still laboring to get the buzz level up to where it needs to be for a film with a $250m budget.
