“You Lucky Girl!,” the only known play by Burroughs, was written in 1927 to provide a starring role for his daughter, Joan, but was never produced. The play is a prescient look at the rise of the modern woman during the heyday of the Roaring 20s. “You Lucky Girl!” is a love story centered on the desire of Anne Mason and her friend Corrie West for a life on the stage. The play twists and turns through mistaken identity and frustrated love.
