How well I remember that terrible day in December 2011 when Disney released the main trailer for John Carter — the trailer fell flat and the media buzz was very hostile. This set the tone for everything that followed. Today is “that day” for Legend of Tarzan. The good news is that the foundation for LOT is much better because the teaser trailer for LOT has been much more favorably reviewed than the teaser trailer for JC. But now it really begins — believe me, the knives are out and the battle for the buzz is on. As an ERB fan I’m rooting for this movie as a way of re-invigorating Tarzan for a new century of fans. If you’re rooting for the movie, follow the links in the article below to the many other articles that are out there reacting to the trailer, and leave a comment. Comments matter — it’s typical for bloggers and writers to go to these articles and just scroll down to ‘see what people are saying’ in the comments. Every positive comment helps the prospects of the film; every negative comment hurts it.
Following are links to articles that have appeared in the last hour since the Legend of Tarzan 2nd trailer was released. This is really a critical period for ‘setting the buzz’ — and a good percentage of the buzz comes from the comments, not the articles themselves. If you’re rooting for the film, weigh in on these article with your thoughts. Yes, we’re a cheerleader for the movie . . . . . for the very obvious reason that we’d like nothing better than for Tarzan to begin a second century with a movie franchise.

The Legend of Tarzan is going to be really good movie. Promo of this movie seems promising. Everbody is eagerly waiting for this movie to get realeased.
Thanks for mentioning the FX. I do think people, even if they’re not trolling, get too caught up in the nitpicking the effects. The reality is, even in movies where the effects are extraordinarily good, there’s always something going to be ‘wrong’. If most everything else is good, just go with it.
Here’s my piece about it, take it or leave it. I am a longtime fan. It started for me as a little boy with the Weissmuller Tarzan movies and the Ron Ely Tarzan TV show. Then later I discovered the original books. I have been fascinated all my life by that story and read avidly all the ERB books when I could. I have the whole collection also. I managed to see every movie version made so far. I have my favorites, and some that I like a bit less, but overall, I like them all. Same for John Carter of Mars, which, by the way, was a fantastic version done by Disney. Maybe they were not following the books to the letter, but it was very well done still. I have seen the Legend of Tarzan trailers and I have a good friend who worked on the VFX of that movie and I must say, this movie, right here, is bringing back the “Jungle Adventure” feeling back in my blood, like it was when I first saw a Tarzan movie and read the first book. They might have added some twist in the story to try to attract more audience, etc., but it might just add to the overall strength of it. I grew up watching Steve Reeves and Reg Park, who played Hercules, Johnny Weissmuller and Ron Ely , who played Tarzan, and others who played Samson, Macist and all other adventure movies of the ’60s. That is what is lacking today. People are over analyzing stories and movies. They stopped enjoying the adventure it may offer if you only paid attention to its call. Let the little boy/girl in you take over when you watch this movie and I guarantee you that you might end up being surprisingly excited about the adventure in it. Stop trying to piece out how the VFX was made, good or bad. Just enjoy the magnificent visual immersion you can actually get today because of all the technology involved, and let the story bring you back 100 years ago (yes, it’s that old), when adventure and exploration of the jungle were just a dream for so many.
Will I watch this movie? You can bet I will! The little boy in me wouldn’t have it any other way!
