One really needs to read the eleven book series in order otherwise it’s just confusing. Hopefully the “I’m oh so clever” types who complain that this movie is a rip off of Avatar, Star Wars, or a host of other books and movies (to include the Tracy Lords version of John Carter); will be placated by the century of artwork and realize everything else is a rip off of ERB’s imagination. Once you’ve read the original Tarzan you realize just how much of a milque toast panty waste the TV and movie adaptations of Greystoke are.
I read these books when I was eighteen (in 1975) and have been watching special effects and movie making grow and become sophisticated enough to make this story right. When I saw the first trailers I instantly knew the characters names because they looked just like they were described in the books (no pictures).
I’ve been following this movie’s development for a few years now and it’s the only movie I’ve ever waited to see for more than two weeks.
