John Carter Files Presents a documentary film: “The Life and Mind of Edgar Rice Burroughs”

Edgar Rice Burroughs

Here’s some news some of you may know a bit about — but has not been officially announced until now:  The John Carter Files guys who cut the now somewhat virally famous “John Carter Fan Trailer”  are making a feature length documentary called “The Life and Mind of Edgar Rice Burroughs’.

Here is the official description.

Ray Bradbury said of Edgar Rice Burroughs: “He has changed more destinies than any writer in history.” Among those whose destinies the author of Tarzan and John Carter of Mars change :  Carl Sagan, Arthur Clarke, Jane Goodall, George Lucas, and James Cameron.  Why?  What was the spark that Burroughs provided to fire the imaginations of so disparate a group? The Life and Mind of Edgar Rice Burroughs explores the extraordinary  life and and even more extraordinary imaginative power of the man who has been called the Rosetta Stone of Modern Science Fiction.  Featuring rare artwork and archival footage, interviews, and dramatic readings, we explore  the mind, the work, and the legacy of Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Today the project was approved and listed on Kickstarter.com , which means everyone who’s part of the community that would like to see ERB’s legacy captured in this documentary can participate.   To learn more visit The Life and Mind of Edgar Rice Burroughs on Kickstarter.

  • I like the beginning — the way it sets up 1912. It really makes you feel what it must have been like to be around when A Princess of Mars came out. Makes me want to read it again…..you are making ERB proud! Keep up the good work!
