As the owner of the Facebook Page ‘At the Earth’s Core’ and having been the inspiration for artist David Burton’s artwork for Dian The Beautiful, as well as being my avatar on ERBList, I highly approve of this. Looking for more updates and new releases to inspire the next generation of ERB fandom!
I discovered the Edgar Rice Burroughs stories back in the 1970s when I found the Ace paperbacks in local shops that sold books. I started with the Mars series, then went on to the Venus, Pellucidar, and Moon books. I have always loved these stories. To this day I go back an reread them from time to time. I am also quite fond of the Frank Frazetta paintings. The John Carter film was very good, though it wasn’t completely faithful to the original story, so I picked it up on DVD. In recent years I have been going through the Tarzan series.
Ok, as acquired the first edition of SAVAGE PELLUCIDAR from off the shelf of an Hollywood bookstore a year after publication during Junior High School I looked forward to seeing more. Purchases of the Canaveral Press firsts followed.
Relishing the art of R G Krenkel, Reed Crandall, Al Williamson and Frank Frazetta within the volumes. Usually, I do not follow up with a ‘second or enhanced edition’ but, admitted here is an exception. SAVAGE PELLUCIDAR grasped my attention as no release date, price or limited printing was given. Where and when may I find this ?
Although, I had and read the Amazing Stories and Fantastic pulps first printings wondering why such color covers of St. John art did not make it to the first edition ,
if only in B&W ? Truly a blessing to ERB covers as Frazetta was to the Conan Ace R E Howard series and Ace ERB paperback series. GREAT to see ERB INC. publication hardcover books again. Danton Burroughs granted me lengthy time and conversation upon my first visit there . Also, allowed me to purchase a few firsts DJ’s and books. Then followed up with my request for more ERB information within a thick large mailing envelope overflowing with paper’s and articles. Still have them since early 1970’s. Miss his conversation and helping me to this day.
Awaiting a positive response from my lenghty inquiry here.
50+ year off and on collector.
But, still a reading enthusiastic fan
